Pullout Behavior of a Polymeric Strap in Compacted Dry Granular Material

چکیده
Strap reinforcement is very commonly used as material in mechanically stabilized earth walls (MSEW). Metal straps are mostly material. However, humid climates, where the risk of damage to metal due corrosion high, use geosynthetic quite justified. In Croatian coastal region, were for two high MSEWs. both cases, backfill crushed stone aggregate from neighboring site was used. According relevant standards, it recommended that should have a uniformity coefficient Cu ≥ 4.0. To meet these requirements, usually necessary sieve and crush evaluate influence on friction interaction between strap aggregate, series pullout tests with different confining stresses grain size distributions conducted. The performed three coefficients aggregate. results confirmed justification higher than one strap, closely spaced straps, separated straps. showed lateral contributes force amount 16.1% total force.

Irreversible Incremental Behavior in a Granular Material
We test the elasticity of granular aggregates using increments of shear and volume strain in a numerical simulation. We find that the increment in volume strain is almost reversible, but the increment in shear strain is not. The strength of this irreversibility increases as the average number of contacts per particle (the coordination number) decreases. For increments of volume strain, an elast...
متن کاملInvestigation of Nonlinear Behavior of Material on Seismic Performance of Roller Compacted Concrete Dam
In this research, the effect of nonlinear behavior of concrete on seismic performance of roller compacted concrete (RCC) is discussed. Nonlinear behavior of material shows the behavior close to reality due to use of all structural capacity and it is considered the most appropriate method for design. So in this paper, by using the appropriate definition of nonlinear behavior of RCC, the Ansys so...
متن کاملSEISMIC BEHAVIOR OF SILOS WITH DIFFERENT HEIGHT TO DIAMETER RATIOS CONSIDERING GRANULAR MATERIAL-STRUCTURE INTERACTION
Silos are structures that are used for storing different types of granular material. Dynamic behavior of silos under seismic loads is very complex. In this paper seismic behavior of steel silos with different height to diameter ratios is investigated by considering granular material-structure interaction using ABAQUS finite element package. Silo wall is modeled by shell elements and its behavio...
متن کاملBehavior of Compacted Lime-soil Columns
This study presents the results of large scale laboratory model tests to investigate the behavior of Compacted Lime – Well-graded Soil (CL-WS) rigid stone columns in soft soils. The unit cell idealization is used for construction of composite specimens by evaluating the influence of different parameters such as the diameter of the column (D), the slenderness ratio (L/D) and the area ratio (Ar)...
متن کاملLaboratory investigation of the frictional behavior of granular volcanic material
We report on detailed laboratory experiments designed to illustrate the frictional behavior of granular volcanic debris. The materials include pyroclastic flow debris from Soufrière Hills Volcano, Montserrat, and from Stromboli Volcano, Italy, and lahar deposits from Mount St. Helens. Experiments were conducted in a servo-controlled, double-direct shear apparatus under conditions of displacemen...
